Hang Ups

1–11 October 2014
Factory 49 // Sydney

Hang Ups is a solo exhibition of sculpture that explores the conjuncture of craft and minimalism as a feminist topology. The works utilise seat-belts, rope and wire as metaphors for tension and release. Concurrently, the use of knots and weaving reference connections and relations between disparate parts.

The forms are crafted and assembled into textured and decorative objects, yet recall and resemble minimalist objects. The industrial and synthetics materials are called into question by the intuitively handmade components. These questions and explorations propose a potential aesthetics of relatedness.
